Gym and Swim, the influential band of the Thai indie scene, has evolved to the new sound finally, and the new 7-inch vinyl SONG4U has decided to be released by BIG ROMANTIC RECORDS on 2 June 2021.
With similar music taste and eagerness for creation, this group of 5 people got together as a band. Intended to make joyful music, they took 'tropical' sound, the symbol of lively and fun, as an unmissable element to create their style of music.
With the debut album Seasick released in 2016, Gym and Swim have become a hot topic worldwide and have arisen at festivals in Asian countries. Gradually, they became the representative band of Thailand's new wave indie scene. And the EP Amazing Ping Pong Show, which including the collaboration song with Sunset Rollercoaster, released in 2019, made the Asia tour a great success.
2020, infected by COVID19, the offline shows were discontinued, and the pandemic affected most people. Taking a positive way to look at it, Gym and Swim think it was a gap year to think, brainstorm and gather many ideas for their new album. Spending a bunch of time together in the studio, they finally came out with the long-awaited new album SONG4U.
As the pioneer of the city pop movement in the Thai indie scene, Gym and Swim's newest album SONG4U attracted attention overseas. Based on a homage to the pure pop music of the zeroes, Gym and Swim added their unique arrangement to created euphoric masterpieces. Guitarist Pong, who also acted as a member of unit Plastic Plastic, took the place of the main vocalist this time. And Jurassic. Pew, who comes from Gym and Swim's ally Thai-based band TELE x TELEXs, is also involved, with a high chill-out feeling. This coupling created a particular remix version.
As Gym and Swim grew up, their music became more serious and developed, but still kept the playful and cheerful feelings. Kept a balance between presenting their maturity and sense of humor, Gym and Swim create diverse sound in SONG4U. The 7-inch edition of SONG4U will be released by BIG ROMANTIC RECORDS on 2 June 2021.
